Richard Allen "Dick" Smith

Richard Allen “Dick” Smith, age 94, of Kingwood, passed away, Sunday, November 27, 2022, at Stonerise Kingwood.  He was born December 10, 1927 in Terra Alta, WV, a son of the late Charles B. and Lena E. (Trembly) Smith. His first wife, Shirley (Loss) Smith preceded him in death. His second wife, Bertha (DeBerry) Moser-Smith survives.

Mr. Smith was retired, he worked many years for Preston county, he first served as a Deputy Sheriff and ended his career as the Circuit Court Clerk of Preston County. He was a member of the Kingwood Church of the Nazarene. He was a Korean War veteran, having served in the US Army. He was a member of the Terra Alta VFW Post #578. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Surviving, are grandchildren, Laina Smith, of Warren, OH, Heather Smith, of Kingwood, Taylor and Alexa Damuth, of Boonesboro, MD, Ashley Damuth and Britany Damuth, both of Smithsburg, MD, and Colton Shrout, of Kingwood, WV; great grandchildren, Kierian Smith, Kiara Riley, Elijah Smith, Brooks Damuth, and Lilly Shrout; son in law, Larry Cuppett, of Oakland, MD, and daughter in law, Tina Smith, of Kingwood, WV.

In addition to his first wife he was preceded in death by: two children, Michael Smith and Sonia Smith Cuppett; and two sisters, Patricia Shreve and Betty Nordeck.

The family will receive friends at Kingwood Funeral Home, 295 S. Price Street, Kingwood, on Thursday, December 1, 2022, from 11am until the funeral hour. Funeral and committal services will be conducted at 1pm, at the funeral home with Rev. Brian Detrick officiating. Interment at Terra Alta Cemetery.
