Perry Curtis Metz, age 73, of Tunnelton passed away Wednesday, May 17, 2023, at his home surrounded by family. He was born September 11, 1949, in Grafton, a son of the late Virgil Harrison Metz and Geraldine Marie (Riley) Metz. His wife, Brenda Sue (Taylor) Metz, survives.
He was a US Marine veteran of the Vietnam war. He was a coal miner and lathe operator by trade, having worked in a furniture factory in NC. He was a member of the Masontown VFW Post #1559. He enjoyed fishing, spending time on the Cheat river, and cookouts. He was an avid boxing fan, but most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family and many friends.
In addition to his wife he is survived by: two sons, Jordan Tyler Metz and fiance’ Ashley, of Tunnelton, and Scott Earl Vallies and wife Katherine, TN; two daughters, Billie Sue Metz and Micheal Gallagher, of Parkersburg, and Misty Dawn Metz and Cindy, of Fairmont; his friend who was like a daughter to him, Missy Moats, of Kingwood; one brother, Johnnie H. Metz, of Tunnelton; nine grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren; and several he claimed as grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by: one son, Perry Curtis Metz, Jr.; and one daughter, Tanya Hlatky; and one nephew, Virgil J. Metz.
Friends may call at Kingwood Funeral Home, 295 S. Price Street, on Monday, May 22nd, from 4-8 pm. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home, Tuesday, May 23, 2023, at 11am, with Rev. Ray Frankhouser officiating. Interment will follow at the Camp Ground Cemetery. Full military honors will be accorded by the honor details of VFWs and Vietnam Veterans of Preston County.
