Freddie "Fred" Gene Shrout

Freddie “Fred” Gene Shrout 78, of Kingwood died June 14, 2021 in the comfort of his home with family by his side.  Born August 31, 1942, in Kingwood, he was the son of the late Harry Glennville Edwin and Cecile Virginia (Teets) Shrout.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Beverly “Joanne” Shrout; his daughters, Glenna Whetsell and husband Tracy, of Kingwood, WV and Rhonda Friend and husband Gary of Thornton, WV;  his grandchildren Brittany Crabtree and husband Nick of Clear Brook, VA and Greg Smith and wife Tiffany of Morgantown, WV; step grandchildren, Shelly Rocha and companion Joshua Hite of Morgantown, Heidi Felton of Terra Alta, and Tyler Whetsell of Ormond Beach, FL and Logan Whetsell of Kingwood; four great grandchildren, Owen and Brady Crabtree, and Maelee and Greyson Smith; and six step great grandchildren; Whitney and Jake Metheny and Briar Felton; and Josh, Nate, and Ellie Hite; his brothers Donald Shrout, Ralph Shrout, Garnet Shrout, and Harry Shrout, all of Reedsville and one sister, Joyce Johnson of Masontown, WV; special friend, Shawna, John, Alexys and Austyn Stull, and his canine companion River.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, James Shrout, Lewis Shrout, Robert Shrout; two sisters, Nadine Young, Gladys Odom, and a granddaughter, Tiffany Michele Smith.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Tina Eggleton, Joyce Goodwin and all the staff at WV Caring for their kindness and caring.

Friends will be received at the Browning Funeral Home in Kingwood on Wednesday, June 16 from 4-8 pm where services will be held on Thursday, June 17, 2021 at 11am with Pastor Gina Frazee officiating. Interment will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery, Terra Alta.
