Roy Doyne Shaffer

Roy Doyne Shaffer, 81, of Rowlesburg passed away peacefully, Monday, March 5, 2018, at Cortland Acres Nursing Home with family by his side.

Doyne was born April 15, 1936, in Rowlesburg, the son of the late Roy E. and Flossie Williams Shaffer.

Doyne was a loving father and grandfather. He was a water tester at Sterling Faucet, an avid hunter, loved ginsenging, gardening and the outdoors. He also enjoyed baseball and WVU sports.

He is survived by his children, Darla Shaffer of Kingwood, Kevin D. Shaffer of Rowlesburg; two grandchildren, Jamie and Kaleb Shaffer.

He was also preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Catherine Lucille Bishoff Shaffer, two sisters, Rosalene DeBarr and Betty Mae Waybright, five brothers, Delbert “Deb”, Brown, Marvin, Ira and Wilbert Shaffer. Roy is the last survivor of his immediate family.

Family and friends may call at Browning Funeral Home, Burke Chapel on Wednesday, March 7, from 2-4 and 6-8 pm where services will be held on Thursday March 8, 2018 at 11am with Chaplin David Spence officiating. Interment will follow at the Aurora Cemetery.
