Mabel Gertrude (Wiles) Shannon

Mabel Gertrude Shannon, 92 of Tunnelton died Sunday October 7, 2018 peaceful at home with family by her side.

Mabel was born April 5, 1926 in Tunnelton, a daughter of the late Corbit P. and Ethel Stewart Wiles.

She was a loving mother, grandmother and sister.  She worked for Kenny Shoes and Camp Dawson. She was Methodist by faith. Mabel loved her gardening, flowers, working puzzles and most of all her family.

She is survived by her four sons, Kennard Shannon and wife, Ruth, Roger Shannon and wife, Dawn and Rodney Shannon and wife Susan all of Tunnelton and John Shannon and wife, Karen of Grafton; her two daughters, Margaret Wiles and husband Randall and Juanita Woods and companion, Danny Thorn all of Tunnelton; sixteen grandchildren, twenty four great grandchildren; three sisters, Irene Kimbrough of TN., Lovie Maier of Tunnelton and Adelaide Maier of PA., her daughter in-law, Virginia Shannon of Tunnelton and several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by her loving husband Gerald Shannon, married in 1947, died 1971; her son, David Watson Shannon; a brother, Lantz Wiles; three brother in-laws, George Kimbrough, Paul Maier, Watson Maier and three infant siblings.

Family will receive friends at Browning Funeral Home in Kingwood on Wednesday, October10 from 2pm – 8pm and on Thursday, October 11, 2018 from 10am-11am the funeral hour with Pastor Sonny McNear officiating. Interment will follow in the M. View Cemetery.
