John W. Haines, 81, of Kingwood died Friday, August 17, 2018 at J. W. Ruby Hospital in Morgantown with family by his side.
He was born in Deer Park, MD, July 24, 1937, a son of the late Charles T. and Flora Chadderton Haines.
Mr. Haines was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. John served in the U S Army. He was an active member of the Independent Baptist Church in Kingwood, loved spending time in his shop where woodworking was his hobby and he had worked for Mon Power both as a lineman and later as a supervisor.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Dortha Williams Haines, his son, Kris Haines and wife, Kelly of Hollywood, MD; his grandchildren, Lila and Asher; his brother, James Haines and wife, Drenda of Cresaptown, MD and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Haines was also preceded in death by his brother, Charles William Haines and his sister, Rosemary Filsinger.
The family will receive friends at the Browning Funeral Home in Kingwood from 3-6 pm on Wednesday, August 22. On Thursday, August 23, 2018 Mr. Haines will be moved to the Independent Baptist Church in Kingwood to lie in repose from 10 am to 11 am the funeral hour with Pastor Terry Cumberland officiating. Following a bereavement dinner, at the church, the interment will be at 2:30 pm in the Deer Park Cemetery, Deer Park, MD. Military graveside rites will be accorded by the VFW Post and the American Legion in Oakland, MD and the WVANFG Military Funeral Honors Unit.
Memorial donations may be made to the Independent Baptist Church in memory of Mr. Haines in lieu of flowers.
