Elwood David Smouse

Elwood David Smouse, 60 of Newburg died Thursday, February 2, 2017at his home.

He was born June 11, 1956, in Kingwood, a son of Opal Moats Smouse of Kingwood and the late John Smouse, Sr..

He was a loving son, father and brother,  He worked for the Preston County Sheltered Workshop, enjoyed gingseng hunting along with discovering other roots and was a jokester.

Elwood is survived by his daughter, Angela Kay Smouse and a son, Joseph Lee Smouse both of Newburg;  the mother of his children, Jennifer Smouse two brothers, Ronald Smouse and wife, Carolyn of Newburg, Ira Smouse and wife, Barb of Masontown; three sisters, Angie Huffman and husband Jimmy of Kingwood, Wilma Stonebreaker of Point, OH and several nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by a sister Lillie May and a brother John Smouse, Jr.

Family will receive friends for a memorial service at the Kingwood Southern Baptist Church in Kingwood on Saturday, May 12 from 5 to 7, with a 7 pm funeral hour with pastor Marty Turner officiating.  Cremation services were provided for the family by Browning Funeral Home and Crematory.
